Update: June 1, 2020: TPU version published at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4400415. Update: April 7, 2020: A bug was discovered in "120_MainBody.stl," please do not print it. I have already fixed and reuploaded the file, which is now named "120_MainBody.stl_v2." The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a surge in demand for surgical masks worldwide, resulting in tight supply and high costs globally. To combat the shortage of surgical masks during this crisis, finding alternative solutions is essential. To alleviate this problem, I designed a 3D printed respirator that uses one-sixth of a surgical mask as its filter membrane. As a temporary measure, three sizes have been uploaded: X6_100, X6_110, and X6_120. You can download the file corresponding to your face size. The steps to measure your face and produce the respirator are outlined below: 1. Download the Face_scale.xlsx file first. 2. Enter the length from your eyes to your lower lip in the "Your face length" field of the excel worksheet, as shown in the photo (e.g., 92mm). 3. Download the corresponding zip file, such as X6_120.zip. 4. Print the model according to the "Printing scale" ratio in the slicing software (e.g., 96.23%). 5. After printing five models, attach waterproof tape to the rear edge of the "Body." 6. Cut a surgical mask into six pieces and use them as filter membranes. 7. Place one filter membrane between the "Body" and the "Body Cover." 8. Install the left and right "Head_cradle," which come in three lengths. Adjust and fit them accordingly, using a hair dryer to heat four small buckles at the end of each cradle, then bend them. Use a rubber band to hook the pair of suitable buckles on each side (personally recommended: the fourth buckle for added comfort). 9. Cut out any unnecessary parts after adjustment. X6 RESPIRATORS have some resistance to breathing and are only suitable for individuals with normal cardiopulmonary function for short periods. Do not use it if you experience discomfort or other issues while wearing it.
