EDIT 6 - 05/26/19 Added Y carriage that can accept 450 mm rails for the new X V2. EDIT 5 - 05/16/2019 Working on a new style 2 piece x carriage (labeled v2) for this mod. These parts are still in the testing stages, everything else seems to work great (I have this carriage on 2 separate printers doing great). For this carriage, the rail will need to go on the back of the 2020 instead of the top. You will need 4 - 50mm m4 screws and nuts to attach the back to the front. There is a version for the cable chain, and a version for using a piece of fish tape in a large arch with the bowden tube to hold it and the cables upright. As requested, this carriage has the slides in it for the modular cr10 parts. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2494642 EDIT 4 - 01/13/2019 There was a request to adapt the X to use the fang style mount and cooling system. I don't have these parts to test, but the X labeled fang mount should allow all the fang parts to bolt right on. Here is the link to the mount and other parts needed to go that route. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2984806/comments EDIT 3 - 12/12/2018 It was pointed out to me I was missing the holes to mount the X end stop, and I realized I left out in the directions to just take the end stop and the small black pointed screws that secure it to the acrylic piece and screw the end stop directly to the x carriage just under the belt. EDIT 2 - 12/12/2018 At the request of a forum member, added a set of Y carriages with a notch to fit 450mm rails without cutting them. EDIT 1 - 12/10/2018 Finally got these printed and installed on my X5S. Here are the things I noticed and corrected. 1. I noticed that the corners were almost impossible to install with all three screws and t-nuts in place on the part. Skimpily placing the t-nut sitting in the rail on the outside on the front (pic showing where) instead of on the part removed all the issues with install. 2. I run my pulleys on the steppers so the belt is centered with the smooth idlers, making the moving part of the system straight. This allows all the change in height to happen in the long run from the stepper to the corner idler. After installing the system, I notice at the front corner of the #2 side (right looking from the front) as the belt climbs to the top pulley it gets really close to the Y carriage when it's at the front near the corner. I realize the factory belts are thicker than the ones I run and it probably rubs while the carriage is all the way to the front near the corner. I have updated the design of the carriage to increase the clearance and will label it at Y1.1 and Y2.1. The minor amount it rubs shouldn't effect anything, but if you wish to change them to insure no issues, the updated files are now in the set. 3. Was asked about it so I included the rest of the mount and the part cooler for the hurricane that the x mount is meant to go with, or a v6 nozzle. Tweaked the belt path a little, redesigned the parts some. These are now meant to use pins instead of screws for the idlers. Need 8 - 5mmx24mm furniture pins. Loews sells them for $3 (Screw/bolt isle one of the draws called furniture parts). 6 - GT2 Idlers 20t 5mm bore, 2-smooth 20t idlers. Rest is standard M4 x 10 screws, and m3x7 screws for the rails. Made more room in the x for the rail and block. Included a file to test see how the pins will fit before printing everything and realizing your printer prints holes a different size than mine. You can use m5 x 25mm screws instead of pins, but the holes don't pass clean through so you won't be able to put nuts on them. Shouldn't be an issue, I just wanted to get away from the idlers wanting to move around on the threads.
