X56 Flight Stick Thumb Button Mod
thingiverse
When I got my X56 Flight Stick, the little joystick that fits under your thumb was a major turnoff. So, I decided to get creative with it by turning it into an actual button. The Small Joystick has a clever click-in feature that registers as a button press. This mod simply leverages that click and works perfectly like a button. You'll need to disassemble the main flight stick to gain access to this project. There are five outer screws holding it together, and after those come loose, you'll find two small screws that secure the small joystick module in place. Remove these and pull out the module carefully. Once the small stick is detached from its base, you'll see a smaller stick underneath. My button mod should slide snugly over this stick. You may need to widen the hole slightly to clear any excess printing residue. After that, it's simply a matter of fitting the module back in place with the new button (be careful not to pull or pinch any wires). Once everything is in its proper position, replace the two screws for the module and then put the stick back together. That's all there is to it!
