X3D Rear Proximity Sensor Mount

X3D Rear Proximity Sensor Mount

I built a portable X3D printer because I needed a compact solution that could travel with me on the go. Given the bed's tendency to lean due to weight and the limitations of using one belt or lead screw, I devised a more reliable method for leveling, hence the creation of this mount designed to accommodate a proximity sensor. Initially, I envisioned it for a 12mm sensor but realized its versatility allows adaptation to any size. One drawback I've encountered with rear-mounted designs is reduced Y-axis travel - you risk colliding with bed guide rails if not cautious. For now, this setup will suffice, although I plan to revisit the mounting strategy in the future to minimize potential drawbacks. To utilize this sensor mount effectively, remember to rotate your printed part before slicing to minimize or eliminate support material altogether.
