x y sliding compound milling vise v2
thingiverse
This XY slide vise was working perfectly for metal but I found a slide for my drill press that fits seamlessly on top. I've ordered a vise that I believe will work on both this XY slide and the one I purchased, making me think that this XY sliding vise is interchangeable with store-bought vises. The slide threads are 2mm pitch, which means one full handle turn equals 2mm. The reason for such a large pitch is that 3D printers often struggle to print nuts and threads smaller without easily stripping them under any kind of pressure. As a result, the threads are as strong and smooth as a metal rod at this size. Also note that these threads are left-handed (LH). There are holes for both vertical and lateral adjustments, but they're only needed if there's excessive movement in your printer. Depending on how it prints, you may find yourself too tight and needing to file and sand parts to fit or having too much movement, which is the only time you need to put the set screws in.
