X-strap Designed for Use with Face Masks, Relieves Ear Strain with Flexible Filaments. This flexible X-strap can replace elastic straps due to its own stretch capabilities when printed with flexible materials. The unique shape of this strap has been carefully designed to avoid any contact with the ears entirely, addressing a common issue where most ear strain relief devices only alleviate pressure on the back or bottom of the ears, leaving the top more susceptible to increased pressure. Three Separate Configurations Cater to Various Use Cases. Strategically placed holes enable direct attachment of straps or assembly of additional printed inserts, while lances allow for secure "hooking" of straps into place. This X-strap is Currently a Work in Progress. As this posting is written, I have yet to print a test sample and will provide updates as the design evolves. Update 4/8/20: Each Configuration Printed with White TPU on Ender 5. Some Tweaks Are Necessary. First, the strap falls short of wrapping around my larger head size, potentially suitable for smaller children but not effective in relieving ear strain as intended. Second, I suspect the TPU's flexibility causes the X to collapse, failing to maintain the strap high off the upper ear. PETG or ABS may offer better results, allowing for thinner geometry and faster prints.
