I designed a custom magazine for the X-Shot blaster using the Nerf 13 Dart Magazine as inspiration, but with some crucial modifications to make it compatible. The original magazines from Nerf aren't interchangeable with the X-Shot ones, so I had to get creative. To print this custom design, I used PLA at a layer height of 0.3 mm and found that printing slowly produced a smoother finish, making it easier for the slider to move smoothly in and out. The spring was the most challenging part to create, but after several attempts using 0.8 and 1 mm diameter steel wire, I achieved the best results with a 2mm steel wire braid, which is readily available at department stores (check out the photo for more details). Using my pliers, I shaped the braid into a functional spring that can hold at least 10 darts. My son's face lit up when he saw this custom magazine in action!
