X-Ray structure of an electrophilic iodine reagent for trifluoromethylthiolation

thingiverse

Researchers have previously reported an electrophilic iodine reagent for trifluoromethylthiolation, which was stated to be hypervalent (Xinxin Shao et al., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2013, 52, 3457–3460). However, our study revealed that the molecule possesses a thioperoxide bond rather than the hypothesized hypervalent benziodoxole motif. Look out for our upcoming article in Angewandte Chemie for more details.
