X-MAXX Wheel Reinforcers
thingiverse
Traxxas X-MAXX 8s stock wheels can be adapted for non-Traxxas vehicles with some minor modifications. The splines need to be carefully cut away and the center hole needs to be drilled out to a diameter of 18mm using a metric step drill to keep the hole centered. A sharp chisel and patience are required to remove the splines successfully. Unfortunately, this modification leaves a very shallow hexagonal pocket for the hub to engage, making it prone to stripping by powerful 1/5 scale cars that can destroy them in minutes unless protective measures are taken. This reinforcing ring serves two purposes: it reinforces the hexagonal pocket molded into the wheel and provides additional seating surface as well. Print these with heavy infill (I printed mine with 75%) and glue them securely into X-MAXX wheels using gorilla glue or epoxy. A big, heavy car will still likely cause significant damage to the wheels but at least the hubs won't strip. Remember, any modifications made are done entirely at your own risk.
