X Challenge

X Challenge

thingiverse

This is a 3D printed version of the X Challenge. This puzzle has many different names: the X-challenge, the X-puzzle, Da Vinci's Helicopter puzzle and at least a few more. I have succeeded in making a version that can be printed in one piece, which works great. In the video there are three versions but only two different prints. The puzzle comes in two versions. One where the slider can only be released in one side and one where both sides can be released. The first step is to first remove the support and clean the surfaces. Then screw a 4 mm short self-tapping screw up into the hole on the slider side and wiggle / pull until the slider releases. If you have taken it with two sliders, then loosen both. If you want to make it with a magnet, you have to choose the model with a single slider. Whether you attach the magnet to the slider or to the fixed part does not matter. I use a neodymium magnet, 5 mm diameter and 3 mm high. The magnet fits in the large hole in the slider, fasten it with superglue. In addition, I have made two rings that you can put the X into. One square and one octagonal. The octagon has a slightly larger diameter, but it can still be a little too narrow for it to slide easily. If so, increase the size of the print by 2% https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCH4squvL-Ltlxj-OGbHaXg
