X-Carve Wide Y-Axis Dust Covers

X-Carve Wide Y-Axis Dust Covers

I drew inspiration from Phraust's design and decided to print his y-axis dust covers for my machine, but I encountered two major issues. Upgrading the y-axis extrusions on my machine to 40mm Wide Makerslide provided greater strength and rigidity, but the curves didn't align properly with my machine's specifications. Therefore, using Phraust's design as a foundation, I started from scratch and created these covers that stop just above the y-axis belts. To assemble them, you'll need fourteen 6mm neodymium ball magnets; they can be found almost anywhere, but make sure to purchase the correct metric size, not SAE, which is often misrepresented by sellers as equivalent. Seating the magnets requires some force, so I used a piece of scrap aluminum bar to press them into place. The magnetic properties of these covers make maintenance incredibly easy.
