X-Carve JTech Laser Mount with Fan Cooler / Exhaust
thingiverse
This X-Carve laser holder mounts in the DeWalt 611 spindle mount. Attach an 80mm fan to the top, then use the hose mount to attach a 3 or 4" dryer vent hose to carry the smoke and fumes to a ventilated area. It also acts as a cooler for the laser so you can run it longer at higher power levels! Since cooling and ventilation are a shared action in this mount, you will need to clean the lens a bit more often. Some tips: 1) Mount the laser using small machine screws and nuts. Might require some modifications to get the laser beam perfectly straight. 2) Feed the laser cable through the hole in the size of the housing. 3) Attach 80mm fan to the top of the mount. 4) Attach the hose adapter to the top of the fan. 5) Gently push the laser mount into the spindle mount, leaving room for the laser's cable at the top of the mount. Be careful not to pinch the wire. Version 1.0 dated 2/23/2016 is a tight fit in the spindle mount, barely clearing the Z axis. You won't be moving the Z-axis much during engraving so Z clearance isn't a problem. 3/4/2016 - Uploading pics of final build with a crazy Delta 130CFM fan attached. Find it on Amazon! It's amazingly strong so I will be adding PWM control to dial it in. ToDo: Add better flange to hose adapter. Print Settings Printer: XYZ Da Vinci Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .3mm Infill: 30-50% Notes: I printed it with basic settings on the Da Vinci. Model seems strong at 30% infill 0.3mm layer height.
