I wanted to upgrade and refine my V3 of this boot system by making it smaller and improving airflow. First, I aimed to make it more compact and enhance ventilation. To achieve strength, I bit into a stick and drilled four holes in my gantry to attach the 2020 extrusion that I use for adjusting the height of the boot arms. The holes are evenly spaced from the edge as the four bolts holding the V wheels. Next, I needed to create stand-offs to utilize these holes for securing the extrusion. I also widened the boot to provide more clearance for the bristles, which need to clear the bottom of the arms. As usual, I relied on M5 brass inset nuts pushed in with a soldering iron. I didn't alter the arms from the previous version, but I did acquire some m5 knobs for added convenience.
