X Carriage w/ Dual extruders
thingiverse
Hello! Ive finally perfected the original X-Carriage design I created earlier, and it now features a mount for dual bowden extruders that's taken my design skills to the next level. The extruder mount also includes a belt grab system, allowing me to fine-tune the carriage with ease. Several tweaks have been made, including adjusting hole sizes slightly and refining the circumscribed polygon size. This X Carriage is specifically designed for a 2020 v slot, leaving 6 mm of space between components. Seven millimeter holes are provided for eccentric spacers, enabling precise fine-tuning. The bearing holes are deep enough to accommodate a full caphead bolt that can be countersunk. Accessory holes are arranged in a 20x40 pattern and are designed to accept an M5 bolt with recessed M5 nuts. The dual extruder mount posed a significant challenge for me, but after several test prints and minor modifications, I'm thrilled with the fitment and ease of belt entry. My extruders have a 6mm slot, which differs from some others that only have a 4mm slot. If you need the 4mm slot version, I have those on hand as well; I just need to clean up the STL file a bit. Three M3 screws are required for attaching the cap to the mount, with each screw being roughly 30 millimeters long in total - that's including the caphead. The M3 nuts are recessed into the back of the mount. I printed all three components in ABS at 100% infill, which took approximately nine hours. I'm extremely satisfied with how they've turned out. I hope this design will be useful to someone else.
