I'm planning to build a 3D printer from scratch, using salvaged parts wherever possible. I scored some industrial-grade components from an old photocopying machine that was discarded in the trash - a great example of up-cycling! The majority of the parts I'll be using, like the 8mm rods and steppers, are going to come from this salvage yard find. This first part I'm tackling is the bottom section of the X-carriage's stepper side. My design concept for the printer is an XY plotter with a moving Z-axis bed platform - it's going to be a real game-changer!
