X carriage Loop

The X carriage, named Loop V1.1, features standard linear bearing LM8UU and has 50mm M4 fixation holes for an extruder. It is compatible with a 50mm-spaced rod, such as the RepRap Prusa or MendelMax. An integrated fan mount is also included. The structure is designed to provide rigidity for ABS printing (PLA works well too), and it has an integrated belt tensioning system on one side. This carriage is an updated version of a design found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9869, with several improvements. Linear bearings are inserted from the side rather than the bottom, ensuring a tighter housing that doesn't require a plastic collar or screw (although it may be too tight; see instructions). The main structure has been reinforced for better rigidity compared to Greg's original design. Belt attachment positioning has been optimized to prevent collision with the extruder gear. The belt clamp includes nuts cavities, and there are fan mount holes with nuts for a 40mm fan air duct (check out http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:169331 if you're interested). The entire design has been fully redesigned in Solidworks 2013. Check the instructions for more information and changes, and feel free to suggest improvements. To assemble, print parts X carriage Loop V1.1.stl, one Belt Clamp A for X carriage Loop V1.1.stl, and two Belt Clamp B-T5 for X carriage Loop V1.1.stl. Ensure the linear bearings fit properly; if not, adjust the cavity or add plastic collars and tighten securely. Install the belt clamp (T5-belt version available, but T2.5 and GT2 options are also provided in links). The changelog includes v1.1's increased fan nuts' holes and v1.0's initial release.
