X-carriage belt tensioner clamp

X-carriage belt tensioner clamp

thingiverse

This text illustrates how a user designed a tension clamp for their X-axis belt after repeatedly adjusting its tension due to motor skipping or looseness. The clamp consists of two parts, one attaching to the carriage with original 2x40mm bolts and the other joining the belt with 2x20mm M4 bolts and nuts. They are connected by a 55mm M4 bolt and nylon lock. With this design, adjusting the belt tension is as simple as modifying a single bolt. Photos of the clamp on a Mendel will be posted soon, and the user notes that the belt orientation is for an alternative X-axis with inward-facing teeth. The instructions include steps for printing the parts, attaching them to the carriage and belt, and tightening the bolts to achieve the desired tension.
