Simplification3D failed to slice the original model accurately, so I reprocessed it through Meshmixer and that seemed to resolve the issue. I noticed the narrow gaps at the top of each loop section were intended to be thin walls, but they turned out to be a crucial feature for attaching and detaching the belts. The openings provide some extra room for maneuvering and give you a secure spot to pry on the belts. Kudos to the designer for that clever original design.
