X axis brush guard
thingiverse
I eventually replaced the entire setup with a cover labeled "final version". The work-up was enjoyable, so I left it here and included a picture of the bizarre mice. I wanted the brush-guard charm seen on other printers, along with a cable chain. Therefore, I remixed Thing:3465579. However, after adding the chain, the bristles got jammed and occasionally became stuck in larger prints. To resolve this issue, I modified some parts to include mouse-ears that push the bristles backward. Unfortunately, they then got caught on the chain, so I created one of those freaky mice like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacanti_mouse. The chain rail from Thing:4181859 did not work with the deeper chain from Thing 4235563, so I designed a new one. I used the non-functional printed part that was already made (FECK!) to cover the cables running up the side of the printer. I also created the squirrelly corner piece to hide the final cable because I am extremely neurotic. I utilized some guitar cable shielding for the hotend wire since everything is extremely jammed in there. I don't actually play guitar; I'm not that cool, but I like shielded wires. The cover was printed in ABS to bring down the heat; I will probably upgrade materials in the future.
