X axis belt tensioner with bearings for the Da Vinci 3D printer
thingiverse
A custom take on the belt tensioner setup:690090, featuring two MR63ZZ (3x6x2.5mm) ball bearings mounted directly onto the original pulley. This enhanced design delivers greater durability and minimizes known issues with the standard tensioner, such as annoying squeaking noises and imperfectly formed circles that commonly arise after numerous printing hours. What's more, this setup makes it considerably easier to install and remove the pulley while maintaining the same exact tension as the original one. Printing Parameters ABS material was used at a layer height of 0.2mm and 100% infill. Some supports are highly recommended for handling initial overhangs. I utilized Simplify3D to add manual supports, which can be seen in the final picture, but automatically generated support structures could also do the job. Required Materials Two MR63ZZ ball bearings similar to these need to be obtained. They were readily available at a local R/C hobby store. Keep in mind that any ball bearings larger than 2.5mm will not work as they won't fit into the slot on the carriage. Further Guidance For additional information regarding using ball bearings within the pulley, consult this Voltivo thread.
