X-Axis Belt Tensioner for Original Prusa i3 MK3
prusaprinters

This is an x-axis belt tensioner for the Prusa MK3. Based on https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2740715 by mhoyt, but it allows a bit more tensioning (about 3mm). My belt status went from 289 to 276.

This was made for the original R1 x-end-motor part. Apparently it will not work with the R2+ part with the built in tensioner but i haven't tested it.

The model has sacrificial bridges for better printing without supports.

Print instructions

Print settings

0.2 layer height
100% infill
no supports
PETG Neon Orange

Post-printing

Remove the sacrificial bridges and assemble it.

These are the original instructions that still apply:

Assemble the plate on to the X-Axis motor with (4x) M3 x 10mm screws, I had these in my Spare Parts Bag. Install (3x) of the square M3 nuts (also in Spare Parts Bag) in the slots then assemble to the mount, leave slightly loose. I used a screw driver between the motor and the frame for leverage to get the belt tight and then fully tightened the 3 screws. I also flipped the pulley on the motor around 180 degrees so the belt was aligned inside the slot.
