X and Y-axis guides for MendelMax
thingiverse
An update reveals that the X-axis occasionally skipped, requiring a tighter belt for resolution. Belt issues on the MendelMax often cause prints to fail when touching the outer side of the pulley. To prevent this, the belt should be balanced in the middle of the pulley; however, this necessitates creating large replacement parts. A shortcut involves adding 608zz bearings against one belt side using guides, enabling faster printing without tooth skipping. The x-axis guide needs an M8 bolt and nut on the stepper motor's screw hole, while the y-axis guide is placed on the rod with spacers and clicked onto the 20mm aluminum extrusion.
