The X-45A is a cutting-edge air vehicle that embodies the future of our Air Force. Unmanned aerial vehicles are increasingly being used, and we're thrilled to showcase the enormous strides made with these aircraft. All major surface textures are 2048 in greatest dimension, with color maps provided. Photoshop templates for each detail can be downloaded from our site. The X-45A served as a scaled-down, advanced technology demonstrator for a project conducted by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the U.S. Air Force. The goal was to demonstrate the technologies required to conduct suppression of enemy air defense missions with unmanned combat air vehicles. In September 2000, "Phantom Works" completed the first of two X-45A UCAVs using research gathered from its manned Bird of Prey aircraft. After extensive ground testing, the first X-45A successfully completed its first flight on May 22, 2002 at Edwards Air Force Base in California, and the second vehicle followed in November. During its test program, the X-45A achieved a number of significant milestones in aviation history. On April 18, 2004, the X-45A demonstrator successfully hit a ground target with a 250-pound inert precision-guided weapon released from its internal weapons bay. On August 1, 2004, one pilot-operator successfully controlled two X-45As in flight simultaneously for the first time. This X-45A model has replaced the museum's previous display of a UCAV model. The price is $89.00. It was added to our collection on August 6, 2015, and last updated on October 20, 2015. The product ID is 55c3592fccff75b0688b477e.
