The vehicle is based on an earlier half-track model that entered service in 1928. This versatile car was produced in multiple versions, each equipped with different engines and slightly distinct armored plates. Equipped with either the 7.92 mm Ckm wz. 25 Hotchkiss machine gun or the short-barreled 37 mm Puteaux SA 18 gun, the vehicles were designed to meet a variety of combat needs. Production of the half-track model came to an end in 1938. However, a new version of the armored car was accepted for service in 1935 and quickly gained popularity among Polish cavalry brigades. By the time World War II broke out in 1939, the car's age had begun to show, but it remained in active use due to its reliability and combat effectiveness. In fact, all Polish cavalry brigades were equipped with organic armored companies consisting of eight armored cars and thirteen tankettes. The wz.34 was the model of choice for ten out of eleven Polish cavalry brigades, which employed these vehicles against both German and Soviet forces. Interestingly, some captured wz. 34 vehicles were handed over to the Independent State of Croatia by the Germans, further solidifying their reputation as formidable armored cars.
