Wyvern Double Helix Dice Tower with Detachable Trays
thingiverse
I'm old enough to remember D&D when it first came out. Imagine my delight when my 30ish-year-old son Alex, discovered the joy of the game. I would have never guessed the Amazon card I gave him for his birthday would be used to buy a bag of high-quality dungeon dice, but I immediately volunteered to print a dice tower for him. After giving him the link to Thingiverse dice towers I could tell he was having trouble deciding so I hinted I could make alterations in the models and combine a few things he liked... boy, did that create a project. His favorite by far was the Wyvern Tower...and why not. It's beautiful. But he liked the double helix staircase in another and wasn't happy with the broken tower opening on the base of the Wyvern. He also said he wanted trays he could take off and snap together with the tower, so I went to work. The result is a three-piece tower (I've also included the whole tower for brave printers but the storms moving through the area as I printed it made me nervous I'd get 3 days of the 5-day print finished and then have a heartbreak). I've also included the sigils, torches, and fire for torches unaltered for ease of use. The rounds on the trays may need a little sanding for smooth on and off. I also cut the sigil hanger and reattached it with super glue a little shorter because I didn't like the way they hung with the reduced wall depth. I hope you enjoy yours as much as Alex is enjoying his.
