WYS

Hi, my name is Jean, living in Paris, and I'm excited to introduce WYS, a cool accessory designed specifically for 3D printing enthusiasts like myself. With WYS, you can accurately weigh your remaining filament on your working spool, avoiding those frustrating situations when your printer stops due to a lack of filament. As our slicing software calculates the weight of our print, it becomes incredibly easy with WYS to know before starting that your print will safely reach completion without any surprises. No more hours of wasted printing time and costly filament loss! The idea behind WYS is to offer a simple, affordable self-made system using 5 STL files attached, combined with low-cost electronic balances available on Amazon (5 grams resolution). There's no need for tricky custom electronics or setup. Once you've printed your 5 components, assembly takes less than 5 minutes. The electronic balance used costs under €10 on Amazon and works autonomously on battery for years with a sleek design. Just search for "odowalker balance" in the Amazon search tool bar to find it in different countries. You'll also notice the convenient side spool charge/exchange feature, perfect for optimizing limited space behind your printer's back panel. I've been using WYS on my printers for two months now, refining details and optimizing print quality, assembly, and ease of use. Many nights of work went into reaching this simple design, which you can see in the photo. WYS works great and I'm happy to share the STL files with you. Feel free to find your own refinements and variations! I designed WYS natively for Zortrax M200 printers but included an adapter for Ultimaker 2 printers. If you're interested, I can design adapters for other brands or even a universal one. In the video below, you'll find assembling instructions, and all necessary information is provided for the best use of the system. Hope you enjoy this accessory and don't hesitate to offer me a tip for a beer or champagne – it'll motivate me to share more cool ideas! Assembly: Simply follow the video instruction to build your WYS. A sturdy string that can support 2Kg will be fine, so just make sure part X is positioned correctly during the string assembly to get suitable lengths of string between parts. Links to buy the hanging electronic balance on Amazon are below: France: http://amzn.eu/3Pk9de5 England: http://amzn.eu/5Zf2f44 Spain: http://amzn.eu/8YAPn2d USA: http://a.co/6FBIAVZ Use: There are two simple ways to proceed: Either switch on the hanging electronic balance, wait for it to stabilize at zero value (tare processing), and then pull the ring of part 5. The weight will appear automatically. Or first pull out the ring of part 5 during tare processing (unload the balance) and then release the ring to get the weight. In both cases, the hanging electronic balance will switch off automatically after 1 minute. To get the exact amount of remaining filament material, you'll need to subtract the weight of parts 1 and 2 and the empty spool (about 240 grams). For easier calculation, use the free cylindrical space of part 1 to round the overcharge.
