Wyrmwood Inspired Dice Vault

Inspired by the innovative design of the Wyrmwood dice vault Kickstarter, I crafted a custom storage case that showcases my woodworking skills. The top and bottom plates are made from rich oak veneer, while the remaining components are designed to be fabricated from 5mm plywood or any other suitable material to achieve a 25mm storage height. This configuration allows for 6mm eva foam padding, ensuring a snug fit for dice of various sizes - including popular 16mm options. Assembly involves bonding parts together with wood glue and securing them with clamps. A belt sander is then used to smooth out all edges, resulting in a flush finish. To add an extra layer of sophistication, I incorporated a 45-degree chamfer on the top and bottom edges. Critical components, such as magnet and screw holes, are precisely crafted at 9.5mm in diameter. I selected high-performance 9.6mm neodymium ring magnets from Home Depot, which were carefully press-fitted into place with superglue for a secure hold. To complete the assembly, I drilled pre-drilled holes and screwed in M5x10mm screws, adjusting their height to achieve a flush fit that allows the screws to touch the magnets. The final touches include a rich walnut finish, a beautifully engraved D20 logo, and a protective oil-based polyurethane seal to ensure durability and longevity.
