Please take a quick 2-minute survey to help us understand how we can offer more models like this! https://goo.gl/forms/MiyWYwno927Wb4TH2 A Wyrd mechanism is a type of compliant mechanism that mimics the motion of a double parallel mechanism. These mechanisms showcase innovative ways to use compliant mechanisms to create precise, desired motions. The coupler point rotates without translation, as if it's fixed in place, but it's actually free to move. The intricate workings are cleverly concealed within various shapes (in this case, animals). The compliant mechanism topology was developed by the BYU CMR as a thought-provoking example, based on a well-known rigid-link mechanism. CMR students coined the term "Wyrd mechanism," drawing inspiration from its ancestral connection to the word "weird."
