The Obrez Pistol, a term derived from Russian for Sawed-Off, is a shortened bolt-action handgun. By removing 4-8 inches of the barrel and significant portions of furniture, sights, and buttstock, these extensively modified rifles become lighter and more concealable, albeit at the cost of accuracy and range. Primarily used as an alternative to handguns or carbines in close-quarter combat situations, the Obrez gained prominence during World War I's trench raids and is now synonymous with the Russian Civil War.
