This monument honors those who lost their lives during World War I. On one side, it features a soldier in a powerful stance. The opposite side showcases several inscriptions that convey respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice. At the very top and bottom, both French and Dutch translations of "In honor of brave heroes who have fallen to defend homes and the pride of the Belgian people" are displayed prominently. Moving down the monument, we find a section that lists the numbers of soldiers involved in this tragic conflict. A later addition at the bottom extends tribute to those who fought during World War II as well.
