This versatile compass was a staple in biplane fighters, airships, and other aircraft from the WWI era, but its functionality didn't stop there - it could also be installed in a boat or used to add a touch of steampunk flair to a dieselpunk scene. By carefully arranging the magnets on the rod, pilots could compensate for errors caused by metal masses within their plane. The model itself doesn't depict any specific historic compass, but draws inspiration from some of Germany's leading brands of the time. The model is built around a simple armature rig that makes it easy to rotate the gimbals and animate the compass card and route pointer. This design allows for smooth and realistic motion. To accommodate different rendering needs, material nodes are provided for both Cycles and Blender Internal, ensuring compatibility with either engine (Cycles being the recommended choice). Additionally, a small brass wood screw is included for easy mounting.
