This design is not yet ready for printing, but rather it serves as the master blueprint for a larger project involving a computer keyboard inspired by various organ keyboards. I'm excited to share this with fellow enthusiasts and hope you'll find it inspiring! By sharing my progress, I can stay motivated and encouraged throughout the process. Currently, I've successfully fitted Cherry MX keys into the design and have printed several test keys. Here's what's next on my agenda: - Integrate key stabilizers, which will be essential given the oversized nature of the keys; - Develop a two-color scheme and model (version 1 of two-toned keys is currently in production); - Break down the master into printable-sized sub-components; - Design in the Teensy keyboard controller; - Print all keys and base parts and assemble them; - Wire and solder all components into the Teensy; - Program the system Next, I'll be uploading a picture of the four key test print. 5/28/18 updates: Four key and toggle test prints were successful. The switches work well. Key stabilizers and full key switch sets are on order. After conducting extensive research, I decided to use Zealios 67g tactile switches that aren't "clicky." I also spent a lot of time studying the wiring for these keyboards. Next up is printing the full numeric keypad visible on the right side of the old STL file modeled after an old rotary phone and figuring out how to incorporate the switches so that the keys are set low down as in the STL file. Once this is successfully printed, I'll upload a photo. 6/18/18 update: The first print of the numeric keyboard was completed and it was successful, albeit time-consuming due to numerous test prints, adjustments, and reprints required. I've uploaded a picture and a movie, although uploading took forever. Now, I'm working on the key stabilizers and creating a full mock-up of the qwerty portion of the keyboard. It will be printed in two halves fastened together by screws given print-bed size constraints.
