Wrought-iron railings
thingiverse
The railings are crafted in four distinct sections: Base, top rail, posts, and the decorative center piece. The center piece is available in a choice of four unique patterns that seamlessly fit into grooves on both the base and top rail. A distinguishing feature of the bottom edge of the center piece is its specially designed cut-away corners, allowing it to nestle perfectly around the base of the posts. Each post boasts an octagonal shape, with the base and top rails fitting snugly around three sides of each one. This clever design enables the railings to be joined together in a straight line or at precise angles of 90° or 45°. To secure all parts firmly in place, a few drops of superglue are necessary. The overall height of the railings stands at 3.8cm, while the posts reach an impressive height of 5cm. PRINTING: When printed on my trusty 5th Generation Makerbot, each part adhered to the default settings of: Layer height: .20mm, Infill: 10%, with a raft for added stability. The printing times for each component were as follows: Base: 16 minutes. Top rail: 7 minutes. Posts (printed upright): 23 minutes. Patterned center pieces varied between 24 and 30 minutes.
