I have replaced several batteries on watches with snap-on back covers successfully using only a bit of elbow grease - until I tried doing it on my Tissot and the amount of force required was too much for me to be able to apply consistent and uniform pressure by hand. With this 3d print I could make the task easier and I was able to safely close the back cover of my watch reliably and with minimal effort. Despite being plastic I think it has enough structural strength to withstand the required pressure to close any watch. For non-printable parts I only used two M8 nuts and an M8 threaded rod. One nut goes in the main body and the other goes in the handle. I then used a small metal sheet as a retainer and some Loctite to keep the rod fixed to the handle - this could easily be remixed to work with an M8 bolt that is long enough, but I designed it for the stuff I had lying around There is also a small bearing to better distribute the load through the cylinder and also to minimize the rotational forces being applied to the back of the watch - it would be interesting to take this a step further and use a conical bearing which could take the downward pressure a bit better, but the one I used was more than enough for this purpose. The other bit is the back plate which I designed for the specific watch I was using and you may need to resize/remix it for other formats. i used a small make-up removal pad to avoid any scratches. Tips : - I have printed the main body on its side - this maximizes the structural strength - The handle should be printed with the rod insert facing down (or up) for the same reason - Apply some lubricant to the rod to make the rotation even smoother
