Wrist Brace and Tensioner for Prosthetic Hand - No Support Needed!
thingiverse
This is a wrist brace compatible with many existing wrist-actuated prosthetic hand designs (Cyborg Beast, RoboHand, Second Degree Hand, etc.). It is printed flat in 5 parts so no support is needed, and a small print area can be used. This design is also made to accept bearings for use in the wrist movement. This design will fit wrists of many sizes with little to no scaling needed because it is held together by cables, giving it flexibility Instructions All Braces will require two "side pieces". These are the pieces where the bearings are inserted. If you require bearing holes of a different size, I'm happy to supply the CAD files upon request. An average size wrist will also require two "diagonals" and one "tensioner". The "tension bits" are what the hand cabling should be fastened to, as is seen in other popular designs. Once the pieces are printed, string them together using a flexible but non-elastic string or cable. Just one long cable can strung through all the small circular channels to assemble. Knots should be used at the end to keep it all tight. Enough string should be left between the panels that it can still bend around the wrist. Line the brace with foam for a better fit and more comfort. If you want to use a different tensioner system, simply replace my tensioner with another one of the "diagonal" pieces, and fasten the tensioner of your choice to it.
