Wrench: Tightening and Loosening

Wrench: Tightening and Loosening

cults3d

This is a file I discovered on the NASA 3D model website, created by Made In Space. The model holds great importance as it was the first object to be 3D printed in space, aside from replacement parts for the 3D Printer. When International Space Station Commander Barry Wilmore required a wrench, NASA sent him one via e-mail. Unfortunately, NASA had overlooked the need for a wrench that could loosen as well as tighten. Luckily, I stepped in and made some adjustments (sort of), which wasn't too challenging – all it took was mirroring the 3D file so it would now lock in the opposite direction. If you want to witness this wrench in action, check out Barnacules' Nerdgasms video on YouTube where he puts it to the test. I borrowed the idea for the loosening wrench from Barnacules! Perhaps he'll notice this post and create a video featuring the loosening wrench.
