The Spanish key, a vital hand tool for machinery maintenance and assembly, consists of a steel rod with two 'U'-shaped mouths at its ends. These openings accommodate the head of a nut or hexagonal screw, allowing for tightening or loosening by rotation. Available in metric and English measurements, each end typically has a different size; for example, one key might measure ½" on one end and 9/16" on the other. However, this tool's design presents an issue as wear occurs on both mouths despite only one being used at a time.
