Wrecking Ball/Crane Toy
thingiverse
My toddler son was adamant that he wanted a wrecking ball for Christmas. I obliged by purchasing him a small wooden one, which he thoroughly enjoyed playing with. Our dog also became an instant fan, so I had to get another wrecking ball to keep up with their enthusiasm. The simple design of the original wooden ball inspired me to create my own version. I ensured that the boom fits snugly into the cabin, preventing it from flailing around but not being too tight either. To achieve this balance, I experimented with different print settings. For printing the ball, I opted for 0% infill and 25 walls, which enabled it to print in a smooth circular motion, resulting in a faster overall print time. In contrast, the boom required more structural integrity, so I chose a 75% infill rate for added strength. The body of the wrecking ball benefited from a 30% infill rate. One thing I'm still unsure about is how adjusting the scale will affect its printability. If you end up making this design, please share your project with me!
