Wreck Matosaari, Helsinki Finland (13.2.2021)
sketchfab
Teemu Kerola The Wreck is a small, 12.5m long wooden vessel at 8-9m depth in Southeast Helsinki. It may have been a British-sounding vessel that was sunk by Russian/Finnish cannon fire from Lehmäsaari Battery close by during the Crimean War of 1853-1856. The Wreck is quite close to shore and under a busy recreational boating waterway, and usually accessible with reasonable (2 m) visibility only during winter time, with ice diving. Wooden wrecks in the Northern Baltic Sea are in relatively good shape because there is no shipworm nor tide.
