Wray Catus

This line of jewelry items was inspired by the intricate skeleton of a prickly pear cactus, which initially sparked my interest in 3D printing. I attempted to print directly from the skeleton using burn-out technique but unfortunately, it never yielded desirable results. So, I created a digital model and printed it with PLA, then successfully burnt out the design without looking back since. To achieve unique textures and patterns, you can experiment with your printer's standard settings or modify the top layer or bed height to create varied effects. You can also adjust the scale of the design for earrings or other pieces as needed. To shape a printed cuff into a wearable piece, simply print the design, then use hot water or a heat gun to mold it to fit your wrist comfortably. Printing with PLA allows you to send your designs to a foundry for burn-out processing, resulting in a metal piece that may shrink around 5% depending on the metal mix. Alternatively, you can electroform over the PLA for larger, lighter pieces. My next design incorporates resin and stone dust into some of the holes, inspired by the cactus's ability to store water and survive in arid climates. I hope you enjoy this line as much as I do.
