Wrapping Paper Cutter (X-Acto #11 Version)
thingiverse
I wanted to make use of some X-Acto #11 blades I already had on hand. I made it big enough in diameter so that most wrapping papers fit comfortably inside. The blade simply slides into place when the print finishes. I would suggest gluing it in for extra security. This version has been thoroughly tested and functions as expected. Features: Rounded edges are designed to prevent snags A tapered exit after the cutter is included to prevent snags, a problem that was encountered during original testing The diameter is suitable for most rolls Height has been optimized to reduce printing time, taking approximately 3 hours at 0.3 mm and 15% infill This design uses commonly available X-Acto #11 blades instead of a surgical scalpel A nested file is also included to print multiple items more efficiently. The Christmas tree cutout was initially removed due to difficulties with it during testing, but I may attempt to add it back later once the angles are correct. Edit: The Christmas tree cutout has been added back in. I will soon test it and verify its functionality, which should help reduce material usage slightly. Edit2: A 70mm ID version has been added for larger diameter paper rolls, as requested by a customer. This is in addition to the original 60mm ID design, suitable for most wrapping paper rolls. Edit3: I have also uploaded an untested PLA version to assist with layer adhesion issues.
