What's the biggest challenge of Christmas time? Gift wrapping! This gadget should help you with one-hand tape operation during gift wrapping. Using legs for paper and gift holding is not necessary anymore! Print Instructions Introduction Wrapoman is an answer to Winter Holiday Season contest. As I'm more into functional design, I was looking for a Christmas time issue, I could improve. For me, gift wrapping is pretty tricky. During deep analysis, I've found that the reason is difficult tape unwinding together with running wrapping paper. I wasn't able to design an automatic wrapping machine in time, so I've fallen back on something "a little" simpler. ;-) During the design, I've realized this could be helpful not just for guys with WSS (Wrapping Sucker Syndrome), but even for older people or people with some kind of disability. Win-win. Printing and Assembly Non-printed parts: Tape width 19mm Razor blade (required) Suction cups (optional) Rubber bands (optional) Binder clip (optional) Printed parts: Left and right side of the holder Blade holder Base Bands (Three sizes available) It happened that during design time, my printer had (and still has) a 0.6mm nozzle mounted. On many places I've tried to design it independent on layer height (0.3 vs 0.2), however I've used recommended width for exact perimeters count (i.e. 1.24mm for two perimeters etc). I'll need to test print it with a 0.4mm nozzle later and optionally adjust the design. It's fine to print everything from PLA, however for bands PETG is definitely a better option. You only need two bands according to your forearm size. Remove unnecessary sizes (3mf contains three) during slicing. All parts are support-free. For assembly, just click parts together. Please be extremely careful with the razor. Most dangerous part is to break it. Use pliers against a table or cutting mat. With 4-7 year old kids, I've tried to design it safe even at the expense of little bit worse functionality. There are three options for mounting: Use printed and rubber bands to attach Wrapoman to your forearm Use binder clip to attach Wrapoman to edge of the table or other thin solid surface Use suction cups to attach Wrapoman to floor, closed notebook, or glass surface I'm looking forward to some smarter design remixes. Conclusion This mini project has three goals: Save time for people (and me) during Christmas season Learn something during the design Win the MK3S and exchange it for SL1 ;) Hopefully I will manage at least two. I'm sharing Fusion360 design, so you can adjust the Wrapoman for your tape size, smarter cutting mechanism, or another holding adapter (GoPro holder anyone? :-D)
