Wrap image on curved surface for OpenSCAD
thingiverse
Python script reads grey-scale PNG image and creates OpenSCAD source file. Image is embossed onto curved surface of solid object, which can be a fragment of conic surface including cylindrical or any mathematically defined surface. Script relies on Philipp Tiefenbacher's original code - with OpenSCAD now supporting polyhedron faces with more than three points, the approach has been simplified and generalized to work with 3D surfaces defined by z = f(x, y). This script requires OpenSCAD version 2015.03 or newer to generate STL files.
