If you want to be able to lift your front hood then you need a hinge. This modification is quite DIY-friendly because you have to cut out your hood first. I personally find it worth it because I like keeping my batteries up front but also want to be able to remove them without taking apart the entire car. This solution is compatible with the original parts, so if you just want to open the hood for fun then you can still do that. You can secure the mounts using the two screws that hold your windshield in place. Keep in mind that when you cut the hood, your fenders might get easily out of alignment. You have a couple of options - either use some glue on the front bumper or try my front compartment solution (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3925508). This solution uses the side turning signal pins to keep the fenders aligned. Cutting the hood is a bit tricky because it's positioned right at the contour of the hood, but you should make sure to leave the two bores intact as they might come in handy later on.
