Worm Tower

I have been running a worm composter for about a year and have been very happy with the results. But now, when the new year began in the garden, I came back to the idea of making the worms work exactly where they are needed. By placing a worm tower directly between plants, you get direct effects without the hassle of harvesting compost. The worms are fed in the tower, but have the ability to move in and out, allowing them to bring the compost directly to the plants near the tower. It also helps them keep the soil loose. The tower is sunk so deep into the soil that all the holes on the tower side are covered. I attached a piece of fly screen to the inside of the cap and secured it with the ring to prevent the worms from escaping through the top holes.
