Domenick D'Adamo, a bombardier on a B-24 during World War II, shares his harrowing experience of encountering flak that severely damaged his plane. Scanned in 3D by the NextEngine Desktop scanner at the Virtual Curation Laboratory on August 16, this fragment was part of a larger piece that compromised one of the engines' fuel lines while Domenick's aircraft was on a mission north of Rome. The artifact is courtesy of Domenick D'Adamo. To read his full story, visit https://vcuarchaeology3d.wordpress.com/2017/08/20/enemy-fire-we-bombed-the-railroad-yards-north-of-rome/.
