The world's largest ham is a massive pork leg that weighed an astonishing 900 pounds (408.2 kg) before being cured in 1955 by Jordan Virginia Ham, a subsidiary of Smithfield Packing. Originally weighing 91 pounds (41.3 kg), the ham underwent significant weight loss after the curing process, shrinking down to a mere 61 pounds (27.7 kg). This gigantic ham is now on permanent display at the Isle of Wight County Museum in Smithfield, Virginia, where it can be viewed around the clock through Ham Cam (https://www.historicisleofwight.com/). In June 2018, the ham was meticulously scanned using a Go!Scan 50 to create a detailed digital replica. Due to its enormous size and slippery surface, however, some areas of the ham could not be captured in the scan, including the hoof end and one side. The Isle of Wight County Museum kindly provided permission for this scan, allowing us to appreciate the sheer scale of this incredible relic.
