The last cavalry tank in the Soviet BT series produced between 1935 and 1940 was the BT-7. Despite being lightly armored, it was reasonably well-armed for its time and offered significantly better mobility than other contemporary tanks. The BT series earned a nickname, "Betka," derived from the acronym or its diminutive form, Betushka. The first prototypes of the BT-7 featured a distinctive turret with an elliptical shape that housed both the main gun and a coaxial machine gun. This design allowed for the easy installation of new guns without substantial framework changes: either the 76 mm KT-28 or PS-3 main gun, or a short-barreled howitzer; alongside the 45 mm 20K model 1932/38, a high-velocity, long-barreled gun effective against tanks but less suitable for infantry combat. The BT-7's replacement was the renowned T-34 medium tank, introduced in 1940. The T-34 effectively phased out all fast tanks, infantry tanks, and medium tanks then in Soviet service. A three-dimensional model of late type tracks designed for BT-5 or BT-7 wheel-track tanks is available, usable for any BT tank series, including the late BT-5, early or late BT-7, and BT-7a models. This highly detailed 3D model can be utilized for 3D printing, games, or scale modeling purposes at a 1:1 scale.
