- Working Prototype - Simple Regolith Sampler System

In my design process, I made several revisions after initial assembly and testing to refine the sampling system. My focus was on simplicity, reducing parts, and ensuring robustness. Key improvements included addressing issues with jamming, uneven deposition, and overall mass. Although I couldn't test it under lunar gravity, I used lighter materials to account for this factor. The design includes STL files, images, and a technical document detailing the collection and depositing process. Highlights include a moving sampler that sorts rocks based on size, a weighing station that triggers deposition, and a spiral layout for efficient use of space. The system meets all technical requirements, is lightweight, and can operate in extreme lunar conditions while drawing minimal power. A 3D printed video showcases the design in action. I appreciate the opportunity to participate in NASA's contest and am excited to see the diverse submissions.
