Working Micro Gear Heart Keychain
thingiverse
This mini heart-shaped gear is a scaled-down version of Emmett's popular design, measuring only half the width (50mm). It boasts a reduced volume by 1/8 and a significantly faster print time - approximately 2 hours per piece compared to 8 for the original. The smaller size hasn't compromised its rotational ability, though it now takes two rotations to realign. Distinguishing features include fewer and larger gear teeth, an altered gear ratio, and beefier pins of uniform length. An added bonus is a hole through the tip, transforming it into a keychain. Create a batch for friends or family, or even use them to impress cute strangers on public transport! Updates include individual component files (gears plus center) and a 'full plate' print file that fits a replicator printer. Previous adjustments include a chain connector to gear1, pin length fixes to reduce wobbling, and zip file availability for the source and .stl files. Printing instructions: Gear plates, center, and pins require separate printing. A raft is suggested for the two plates with .2 layer height, 10% infill, and 50mm/s feed rate. Pins should be printed in multiples, as a flawed pin may be needed as backup. The best settings are a .3mm layer height and 100% infill. Trim any protrusions on gears for smooth rotation. Keychain hole is available on the top or bottom gear, depending on your preference.
